It is weird to have AC ‘compromised’ with micro transactions, but I’m not sure what better options they have when competing within the iOS and Android game markets… Ignoring or waiting for the timers are easy from the expectations set by earlier Animal Crossing games. I agree-after the flurry of excitement and beginning bonuses, I’m happily working my way slowly through the game. It is the fact that it feels like a marginally expanded Miitomo experience and that game fell off a cliff because it didn't feel like you were doing much of anything. The issue with this game is not the online only part of the experience. The only serious issue here with lacking the ability to control the network access is preservation and if the sequel titles end up being shit. Assuming Nintendo's mobile ambitions plan out, I doubt this will be the ONLY Animal Crossing game on the platform. The thing about games, especially with good developers, is the sequels or new ideas that borrow on the original mechanics will be improved from the prior experiences. If people want to play, they will play, regardless of the risk of having the plug pulled.

This online only crap is going to deter people from investing time into any new games.Ī lot of games are online only without the option for third party servers and it hasn't deterred people. My wife still plays whatever AC came out for the original wii. Support code: " repeatedly.ĥ years is nothing. (Bye Miiverse!) The very worst part of the app is that.well, you know how many hours the typical Animal Crossing player sinks into each game? Well, Nintendo made this app online-only so in the long term, know that your campground is going to disappear once Nintendo shuts the servers down, which if we turn to history as a guide, won't be very long. Would you like to buy something from a friend's Market Box directly from the friends list without having to visit them first? Sorry, you can't.Įither the developers never actually used the app so didn't notice how irritating it is or they intentionally made it as obtuse as they could. If you spend at least $60, you must be mad because the newest Animal Crossing (New Leaf) came out for $34.99. If you spend at least $60 on Leaf Tickets, you can accumulate every single item and placate every denizen in a few long marathon sessions, just tap-tap-tapping away between menus, currencies, and tiny zones. Life doesn't go at fast forward speeds, though Animal Crossing isn't a true to life simulator.

The series is, at best described, a life simulator. You could, you just wouldn't accomplish much during that time since the game follows the real world clock. the game was never designed to be this long slog experience that you can play for hours in one sitting. Once the town is mostly built up and a lot of denizens have opened up homes and shops in your town/market, you are basically doing time of day events that last 5-10 minutes at most. The early going in Animal Crossing A New Leaf is where you end up bulk playing with longer sessions. This is the gist of what Animal Crossing really is. It's about waiting for the right furniture to complete your interior design, the right clothing to complete your outfit, and the slow drip-drip-drip of repayments on your mortgage. Sure, you can bypass them if you like, but Animal Crossing isn't really about charging through. I don't really see the problem with the timers – you've always had to wait for things like fruit to regrow, and for furniture to be customised. I definitely agree that the separate, task-specific areas take something away from Animal Crossing (I also think this is probably deliberate as a differentiator from the 'full' versions of the game).
